‘ Gulabi Aporanho’ is a book of short stories. There are sixteen short stories from different tastes. Emotion, frustration, failure, middle-age crisis, teenage infatuation, a story of a Devdashi…etc etc all are set in various places of India.
The first story is about two women from different social status. One is a middle- aged housewife who has enough time, and another is a Bar girl, working in a bar. This story is set in a city of Middle East.
The plight of that Bar girl Kulsum to escape from this world, to return back to her roots, has been depicted nicely with vivid descriptions.
The last story ‘ Gulabi Aparanho’, is about a life of a woman, Neena. A mother, a wife, who seeks her peace and reaches Waghai, a small town close to Satpura mountain, Gujarat. There she stays in an orphanage home for few days and takes a decision. A bold decision to spend her rest of life there, in a completely different world, amidst small orphans.
‘ Chatok er Kanna’, is a story of an Indian middle-class family, which can touch everyone’s heart. Every common Indian can relate himself/ herself with this story. A plight of a teacher, her struggle to make balance between her family life and teaching job, has been woven with minute details, with utmost care. Other stories too will be able to touch readers’ minds.
